August 2, 2017, the first meeting of the international working group of representatives of nationalities of border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan was held at the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, initiated by the Eurasian Commonwealth Fund for Social and Economic Development with the support of the Government and the Agency for International Cooperation of the Chelyabinsk region.

The first Open Chess Festival in the Sverdlovsk region — «Ural Chess Festival-2017» for prizes of «SKB-Kontur» has started at USUE. In five tournaments, more than 500 people will compete. The event is planned to become annual.

Students and faculty members of Ural State University of Economics took part in All-Russian Festival of Social Videos "I am Against Extremism". The festival is held by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation together with the National Center for Information Counteraction to Terrorism and Extremism in Educational Environment. A group of young, active people starred in social advertising, where they shared their opinions on terrorists recruiting to join the IS organization outlawed in Russia. In such a way, USUE stated that it is concerned about the problem of extremism and terrorism.

July 17, Ural State University of Economics hosted the scientific and practical conference dedicated to the preparation for the 100th anniversary of the execution of the royal family "Urals in the Fate of the Romanovs".

The Ministry of Finance of the Sverdlovsk region summed up the contest of projects for presenting a budget for citizens. It involved a variety of projects: from abstracts to animated cartoons. The works were evaluated by a competitive commission, which included key specialists of the Ministry of Finance and leading consultants representing the business community and the system of higher financial education in the Sverdlovsk region.

As part of the International Trade Fair "Innoprom-2017", at the venue of the Yekaterinburg Administration, presentation and discussion of the information-analytical system " Public Budget of Yekaterinburg" took place.

July 13, at the International Trade Fair “INNOPROM" held at Yekaterinburg-Expo, the Rector of Ural State University of Economics Yakov Silin met with the Director General of HeadHunter agency Mikhail Zhukov. They agreed on long-term cooperation and signed an additional agreement on extending the term of the current agreement.

Ural State University of Economics entered "Yandex" rating of universities popularity and ranked 52 out of 264 places. In addition, USUE was for the first time mentioned in the National University Rankings published by Interfax. Here the University was on 220-221 positions.

In early summer, Ural State University of Economics has traditionally opened doors to high school students. During the month, 650 children of 8-11 grades from all districts of Yekaterinburg attended master classes and interactive events at USUE, studied the basics of the world economy, were engaged in teambuilding and learned public speaking.

Ural State University of Economics issued a textbook for universities “Enterprise Economics" in the year of its 50th jubilee. This work is unique by the interaction of two universities – USUE, the Plekhanov RUE, and leading practitioners of a large employer - NPK Uralvagonzavod. The team of authors has enclosed in the book the experience accumulated for years of work. The richness of the data made it possible to build a practice-oriented system of knowledge, which will give the reader an opportunity to get a complete picture of an enterprise's economics.

It identifies five main objectives: «the realization of human potential» through the development of medical and social protection systems, economic development, comfortable living environment, development of small and medium-sized businesses, development of local self-government, where the main focus will be the patriotism development.

On the night of June 22 in the center of Yekaterinburg, thousands of candles were lit. The annual action in honor of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was supported by public organizations, university students, and top officials of the region.

Ural State University of Economics celebrated the tenth anniversary of its club of veterans. As the organizer of the club Lyudmila Yunusova told "our main goal is not to lose contact with each other, that is, between teachers and staff who devoted a significant period of their life to the University."

Dmitry Nozhenko, head of the Department of State and Municipal Management, head of the Administration of the Leninsky District of Yekaterinburg, became the winner in the category «Public Official No. 1» of the business award «Prize No. 1».

USUE Vice-Rector for Social Work Roman Krasnov visited Osh Technological University (Kyrgyzstan). He held a presentation of USUE educational programs for schoolchildren of gymnasium No. 52, a lyceum for gifted children, and for the students of the Secom Center of Osh (a partner of Ural State University of Economics).

Today, to succeed as a specialist and as a person, sometimes, it is not enough to get one degree. The opportunity to increase one’s competitiveness in the labor market is provided by supplementary education programs implemented at USUE. Upon completion of the training, the students receive duly executed documents corresponding to the current legislation of the Russian Federation.

Ural State University of Economics conducts an active and systematic work to counteract corruption. The university is not only a venue for events but also an organizer and a participant at other venues.

Drums, parade military uniform and banners: Yekaterinburg celebrated the Day of Russia. In the festive procession in the center of the city, USUE students marched in a column together with the Youth Army members, Cossacks, and cadets. Along with the flag of the country, young patriots held high the flag of their university. In the events dedicated to the Day of Russia took part the USUE Vice-Rector for social work Roman Krasnov.
